Professor Bart Morlion

Professor Bart Morlion is professor at the University of Leuven and director of the Leuven Centre for Algology & Pain Management at the University Hospitals of Leuven, Belgium.

Professor Morlion trained as an anaesthesiologist, and has worked for over 20 years full time in pain medicine.

He is member of the executive board of the European Pain Federation (EFIC), and as President Elect will take office in September 2017. From 2006 to 2012 he was the President of the Belgian Pain Society, the Belgian Chapter of the IASP and represented Belgium as councillor at EFIC from 2006-2013. He is programme director of the Belgian Interuniversity Postgraduate Studies in Algology and is also an active member of several committees in international scientific societies (EFIC and IASP).

Professor Morlion is currently deputy editor of the European Journal of Pain and author of numerous publications on the management of pain. His professional interests include all aspects of multimodal chronic pain management, cancer pain management, pharmacotherapy of pain, and quality management.
